Balfolk Bray is an International Dance workshop and practice organized by Roots in Tune volunteer Serena Piotti. The workshop and practice takes places on a regular basis at Common Ground Bray, Co. Wicklow.
During the balfolk session, instructions are provided (based on level of interest of the participants) to facilitate the learning experience, connection within the group and enjoyment of everyone. We will then practice what we've learnt with a dj set or occasionally with live music.
So don't worry if you are not a dance expert, just come and join the fun!
The dance repertoire is really broad from France to the Balkans, coming from specific regions and cultures. Guaranteed you'll find your favorite dance amongst them! If you know a dance from your own region or culture and wish to add them to the dance repertoire, Serena will be very interested to hear about it.
There are couple dances with or without physical contact, chain or line dances, circle dances and mixers that allow you to change partners and get to know other dancers.
Please note that in the Balfolk community spirit, classes are offered for free, but we do encourage a suggested donation of 5 euros. Your support is greatly appreciated in helping maintain the Balfolk Bray activities.
